Nature of Work

The Economic Development Manager is responsible for the management and direction of the Economic Development project activities.

This full time position is responsible for promoting business, workforce development, and economic development interests within the community. This position will include working with designated departments and partners in providing guidance to individuals and companies to establish, relocate, or expand their businesses within the community, including oversight of micro-lending activities.

Essential Job Functions

•Responsible for overall management of the Economic Development Division

•Develop and implement Workforce Development Program

•Ensure quality of program implementation in the Small Business Assistance and Workforce Development space

•Maintain all records and program standards in accordance with applicable federal and grant regulations

•Develop, implement and evaluate quality assurance protocols to ensure goals of the program are met

•Collaborate with other Directors and Program Managers to achieve program goals

•Analyze Small Business and Workforce Development client outcomes, trends, and programmatic integrity

•Prepare and submit all program reports as required

•Acts as a liaison to partnering agencies (i.e. Enterprise Foundation, partners, etc.)

•Attend all required grant and partner related meetings

•Implement programmatic policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements

•Conduct regularly scheduled Advisory Board meetings for both the Small Business and Workforce Development Programs as needed and appropriate

• Expand and apply knowledge of Economic Development strategies and policies

• Supervise staff and consultants on technical projects

Required Educational Experience and Training

•BA/Master’s degree from accredited college or university and at least two years’ experience in community, social or economic programs. Preference for experience in economic development related programs.

Other Requirements

•Valid State of California Drivers License with appropriate insurance coverage

•Access to reliable transportation

•Access to and use of a cellular phone

•Competency in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
