The development associate provides a full range of administrative and logistical support to both the director and associate director of the Society of Fellows to effectively cultivate, steward, identify, and solicit contributors to the Society of Fellows annual fund. The position is part of the advancement team and works closely with development officers and other personnel responsible for the comprehensive fundraising efforts at The Huntington. Professional office demeanor and appearance are required, as this person interacts with The Huntington’s community of donors, prospective donors, Trustees, and Overseers.

Essential Functions

Supporting the director and associate director of the Society of Fellows, provides administrative support such as details for appointments and meetings, responding to telephone calls, maintaining donor files and records, etc.
Drafts, edits, and prepares correspondence, gift acknowledgements, and reports.
Manages prospect and data information, including inputting data into donor database, and working with the advancement services director to export, synthesize, and analyze data.
Participates in organizing and supporting on-site events to help steward and engage new and existing supporters.
Attends committee meetings and is responsible for meeting minutes and their prompt distribution.
Responsible for special projects as assigned by the director of the Society of Fellows.
Shared departmental and other duties as assigned, including evening and weekend work.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required.
Must be proactive and able to think beyond the moment, and have the ability to effectively prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and high level of accuracy.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong proof-reading and editing skills, and confident telephone skills.
Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, comfortable navigating the Internet as well as on-line databases. Must have high level of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and collegial environment where credit and successes are shared by the entire advancement team.

Experience

A minimum of three years of nonprofit experience preferred.
Raiser’s Edge experience strongly preferred.
