The College Access & Success program offers high school students at StreetSquash a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for post secondary education. The curriculum is focused on intensive test preparation, vocabulary building, essay writing, college knowledge, and college tours. The Senior Director of College Access & Success is responsible for oversight and implementation of all aspects of this program.

About the Position

StreetSquash is seeking a College Prep Assistant with a passion for supporting young people and putting them on the path to achieving their higher education goals. This position will begin September 14th, 2015 and will report to the Senior Director of College Access & Success.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching a writing and grammar curriculum to groups of 15 9th, 10th and 11th grade students
Planning lessons to supplement and adapt existing curriculum
Facilitating ACT Prep to small groups of 11th graders
Managing volunteers in sessions

Qualifications:

Must be available to work Mondays and Wednesdays 3pm-6pm and Tuesdays and Fridays 2:30pm-5pm (with the potential to work Monday-Friday 2:30 – 6:15 pm and Saturdays 9am – 3:00pm) and be available for all trainings and meetings
Teachable knowledge of high school English (grammar and essay writing)
Excellent writing, teaching and facilitation skills
Experience working with youth required
Experience with lesson planning and curriculum development helpful

Opportunities to develop skills in behavior management, group facilitation, organization, communication, cultural competence, etc. through on-site trainings.
