Marketing Coordinator – Washington – Grants Managers Network

Job description
The Marketing Coordinator works with the Communications Director and others in the organization to develop and implement communications and marketing strategies for reaching GMN’s key constituencies (members, potential members, community supporters, funders, prospective funders, and board members). This position will also collaborate with colleagues in the organization to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communications. This position is responsible for coordinating organization-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications. One of the most crucial tasks of the coordinator will be the ongoing management of an organization-wide communications calendar.

Responsibilities include writing for and updating the GMN website, writing and performing outreach related to development/fundraising appeals; producing publications, working with design vendors; publishing weekly and monthly e-newsletters; developing and implementing marketing campaigns for events, programs, and services; preparing GMN’s annual report and other organizational communications such as board materials; and handling other general association communications.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required. Concentration in marketing, public relations, or English/journalism a plus.
3-5 years’ experience in communications/marketing, preferably in a nonprofit or association
Strong writing skills and overall communication effectiveness
Experience working with design of collateral materials
Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and coordinate several projects at once
Comfortable working in iterative creation process, responsive to feedback, and able to adjust to changing demands of the position
Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and professionally
NOT REQUIRED BUT PLUSES:

Familiarity with WordPress content management system and ADOBE PhotoShop and InDesign

Responsibilities include:
COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING
Maintain organization-wide communications calendar
Write and post marketing content where appropriate to promote GMN and its products and events, such as webinars, publications, conference, and general membership outreach
Create and manage production timelines
Assist in securing sponsors for conference and annual 365 sponsorship program, including identifying prospective sponsors, conducting outreach and providing materials, following up in a timely manner, and fulfilling sponsorship benefits

WEBSITE
Write content as assigned; maintain content update schedule, working with staff to update content in their areas
Create images for promoting website content areas and special promotions
Serve as primary liaison with website vendor

SOCIAL MEDIA
Write and post content for multiple Twitter feeds, Facebook page and other social media sites, to promote GMN and its products and events; coordinate work of freelance social media writer

ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Assist in securing sponsors for annual conference, including identifying prospective sponsors, conducting outreach and providing materials, following up in a timely manner, and fulfilling sponsorship benefits
Create promotional schedule and materials for annual conference
Create content for conference materials, including website and on-site program
Attend annual conference and perform assigned duties on site

EVALUATION
Participate in measuring and evaluating GMN communications and marketing outreach and programs to determine best practices and successes
TRAVEL

Anticipated travel up to four times per year, to annual conference, board meetings, and staff planning meetings in the Washington, D.C. office
Compensation

A comprehensive salary and benefits package will be offered commensurate with salary requirements and experience.

Location
GMN is located in Washington, DC near public transportation.

Physical Demands
Must be able to move about the office as well as sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to use the phone and computer, sometimes for prolonged periods.
Must be able to travel.
Work Environment

This is an open space environment with moderate noise (e.g., colleagues’ conversations, computers, and printers) and light traffic. Telecommuting and non-standard (flex) working hours may be feasible for this position.
