The Foundling’s Development Department is looking for a strategic, methodical and creative Manager of Corporation & Foundation Relations to join our 6-person team. This individual will work under the leadership of the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations and in concert with program directors to raise funds that support the work, mission and institutional fundraising goals of The Foundling. The Manager will be responsible for maintaining and expanding The Foundling’s foundation and corporate relationships, while identifying new potential funders.

About You

The right candidate is committed to the mission of The Foundling. He/she will have highly developed writing skills and experience crafting persuasive proposals and reports that convey strategic concepts and make compelling arguments. He/she will have the demonstrated ability to establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with significant donors on behalf of an organization. He/she works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment where both teamwork and independent work are required.

Responsibilities include:

Becoming knowledgeable on The Foundling’s programs and initiatives, and monitoring trends in subject matter areas for potential program growth.

Cultivating and stewarding corporate and foundation funders (four, five and six-figure gifts).

Collaborating with program colleagues to create persuasive case statements, compelling stories and substantive data for use in proposals, solicitation materials and talking points.

Writing effective grant proposals and other solicitation materials that increase donor awareness of The Foundling’s mission and programs and encourages their engagement and financial support.

Conducting prospect research and preparing briefings using in-house tools, online subscriptions and other resources.
Scheduling and managing donor site visits and coordinating engagement opportunities for funders.

Representing The Foundling at third-party and community events, accepting gifts on behalf of the organization and presenting to select groups to educate them about our mission and work.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.
3-5 years of experience in corporate and foundation relations required (experience in human services sector a plus).

Must love writing and have the ability to translate complex ideas and strategies into clear, concise and compelling narratives.

Must have a strong understanding of the grant proposal and reporting process.

Excellent research skills, preferably with experience researching foundation and corporate funders using tools like Foundation Directory Online and LinkedIn.

Tech savvy, proficiency with Microsoft applications and experience with CRM databases (Salesforce a plus).

Self-motivated, with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple, simultaneous projects.

Polished, professional and comfortable liaising with donors and other VIPs.

Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
