ACT Prep Instructor – College Track – East Palo Alto

College Track EPA – ACT Prep Instructor

The goal of the Academic Affairs program is to give students the academic support necessary to graduate college-ready and college-eligible. For most students, this means a GPA of 3.0 or higher and an ACT score of 23 or higher. The ACT Prep Instructor is responsible for ensuring that all College Track students maximize their potential by achieving and making continued progress toward meeting these ACT achievement goals. To do this CT students must receive comprehensive support aligned to their individual needs, and our ACT Prep Instructor will advocate for these needs to help students excel on the ACT. The ACT Prep Instructor will receive comprehensive training in a research-based, curriculum called Applerouth, as well as collaborate with others on the College Track Team to develop and adapt programs that meet the needs of each student.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Oversee the success of Junior ACT Prep. sessions
Deliver ACT Prep instruction Monday – Thursday, 4:30 – 7:20 (with additional paid, flexible prep. time hours)
Address non-cognitive skills that impact test-taking
Participate in regular meetings to review student needs and continuously develop skills will be leveraged to address student needs
Collect, analyze, and utilize to data to maintain and advance program quality
Other tasks include maintaining CT norms & expectations in the classroom space, taking attendance, corresponding with parents, participating in Official ACT day-of activities
Qualifications :
Previous teaching and/or tutoring experience or experience working with high school youth, or college students
Bachelor’s degree, or currently working toward degree
Content knowledge in the Math, Reading, and English sections fo the ACT
Adaptability, and outstanding problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
Ability to build rapport with students, inspire them, and help students maintain focus
Cleared background check and TB test before start date

Compensation:
Competitive and commensurate with experience. This position is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position. Benefits include paid sick time and work-related mileage reimbursement.
