Role Description:

We are looking for a passionate, professional, entrepreneurial individual interested in working on constituent and donor engagement across many platforms in a start-up environment. S/he will work closely on all aspects of friend- and fund-raising, including direct constituent/donor engagement, acquisition and retention; prospect research; event coordination; crafting donor communications and working with volunteer leadership groups. This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on War Child’s initial growth in the US.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Work with Managing Director and Development Associate to implement individual giving and donor engagement strategy
Assist with Young Professionals Group and Leadership Council initiatives and events
Assist with event coordination, list management and follow-up
Assist with management of incoming inquiries and third party fundraising efforts
Conduct prospect research and create briefings on individual, corporate & foundation prospects
Assist with phone & email follow up to online campaigns, including updates and donation asks
Draft donor communications including letters, newsletter and campaign copy, program specific information sheets and presentation decks
Work with Digital Communications & Policy Intern on social media & donor engagement initiatives
Assist with administrative, scheduling, and logistical support around organization activities as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
Experience in online research and database diving
Professional demeanor, able to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals
Ability and desire to work independently and proactively identify and take charge of tasks
Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills with follow-through
Highly proficient in MS Office, Google Drive; experience with SalesForce & graphics programs a plus

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree, studies in international relations, political science or non-profit management and/or a related field; Masters Degree (or currently working towards) preferred.
Demonstrated interest in and commitment to War Child’s work
Entrepreneurial, can-do spirit with a sense of humor
Strong research skills and digital skills preferred
Knowledge of core policy areas preferred

3 days per week; $600 stipend for 3 month commitment
