Bilingual Social Worker – Planned Parenthood – New York

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Social Worker for our Queens health center located at 21-41 45th Road, Long Island City, New York 11101.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides supportive counseling, crisis intervention, referral and other social services to the clients of the health centers as an integral component of the clinical services program. Interviews individual clients, taking a complete social and medical history, discussing specific procedures, birth control methods, and obtains legal consents. Provides individual support and education to clients, preparing, assisting and accompanying them throughout specific procedures. Consults with counselors and/or supervisory staff on client situations and recommends interviewing and case management techniques. Conducts and/or participates in meetings with Center staff. Supervises volunteers and/or interns as appropriate. Participates in agency training technical assistance program activities, and special projects as assigned. Working with Director of Social Services and Senior Director of Social Services, conducts Social Service related audits and observations of staff (such as Counselors and HCAs). Represents PPNYC through such activities as speaking engagements before professional and other groups to explain and further the agency’s goals. Works flexibly and cooperatively under supervision and with all members of center staff to maintain the overall good of the center.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work. New York State License required. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) required. Requires one (1) to two (2) years of related and/or applicable experience. Flexibile schedule, including weekday availability, strongly preferred.
