The Volunteer Manager will report to the Executive Director, and work closely with Hopalong’s program managers. The main objective of this position is to support and continue to build a solid volunteer and foster base to support Hopalong’s mission and programmatic objectives.
Hopalong needs a high number of skilled and well organized volunteers to assist with office duties, animal care, driving, mobile adoptions, screenings, cleanings, marketing outreach and fundraising support. This position not only recruits a team of skilled volunteers and fosters, but will manage their daily/weekly tasks and implement a seamless adherence to quality and support.
Specific tasks identified by Hopalong staff include the following:
Supervise, coordinate, & promote volunteer program
Recruit, screen, & train new volunteers
Update and revise volunteer job descriptions, handbook, and training material
Hold regular volunteer orientations
Maintain support system for volunteers
Maintain records of volunteer hours
Maintain volunteer information, waivers, in database
Develop volunteer newsletter
Coordinate with staff members & their volunteer needs
Coordinate volunteer recognition & appreciation events
Increase volunteer retention
Evaluate volunteer performance
Increase number of volunteers trained to be Adoption Counselors &
Build foster program
Maintain postings on Craigslist, newspapers, Volunteer Center of the East
Bay, Adopt-a-pet, websites etc.
Building a team of reliable and available transporters
Other Duties as Assigned
