PPNorCal is currently seeking a full-time Senior Director of Medical Services. In conjunction with the Medical Director, the Senior Director of Medical Servicesis responsible for providing medical leadership to PPNorCal for implementing medical policy, and for maintaining clinical standards as established by the National Medical Committee of PPFA and other Federal and State regulatory agencies. As a member of the PPNorCal Senior Management Team, the Senior Director of Medical Servicesrepresents PPNorCal in the medical community and provides other departments with medical background and medical leadership. This individual functions as the primary designee by the Medical Director regarding the clinical management of specific clients. The Senior Director of Medical Services willreport to the Senior Vice President of Client Services and is an integral part of the Client Services department.

This is an exempt, full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Salary is DOE.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Directly supervises the Quality Management Clinician and co-supervises Lead Clinicians in conjunction with the Center Directors. Function as liaison to our lab in San Jose and assist in overseeing the Clinical Laboratory Scientists.
Work as a member of the Client Services leadership team to ensure the provision of high quality, cost effective medical care provided by center staff.
Work in collaboration with Senior Vice President of Client Services and the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director to oversee Health center operations to ensure the delivery of high quality, customer focused medical services for all family planning, sterilization, and abortion programs.
Provide support and resources to the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs at the Health center level.
Work in collaboration with the Quality Management Clinician and Medical Directors to develop and implement changes to clinical practice based on results of audits and identification of best practices to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.
Work in collaboration with Client Services leadership team to establish clinical competency standards, staffing guidelines, scope of practice, and productivity expectations of licensed staff to ensure safe clinical practice.
In conjunction with the Center Director, provides annual evaluation, leadership development, and performance measures based on Lead Clinician competencies and clinical skills.
Assess the skills and competencies of Lead Clinicians and collaborate with Lead Clinicians to assess the skills of other licensed staff to ensure compliance with Agency’s clinical and practice management protocols, policies, and procedures.
Assist in developing and implementing clinical services strategic and operational plans to support Agency goals in conjunction with managers, Lead Clinicians and other department representatives and resources.
Assist in establishing goals and preparation of center budgets in collaboration with Sr. Regional Directors and Senior Vice President of Client Services to facilitate the effective management, sustained productivity, and financial solvency of medical services.
Collaborate with the HR department and licensed staff trainers to ensure appropriate staffing and diversity in clinical skills of Clinicians and Registered Nurses to match the needs of each center in each community.
Serve as medical information resource to Clinicians, Registered Nurses and center staff regarding medical protocols and Client medical management issues.
Work with Clinician Trainers to ensure quality outcomes in clinical service delivery.
Support and operationalizes implementation and ongoing use of Electronic Health Records.
Assist to develop and maintain Quality Management Program within center services, in conjunction with Quality Management Clinician and the Director of Analytics and Reporting.
Assist with ongoing evaluation and monitoring of programs and services related to center and Client services.
Serve as a medical resource regarding clinical programs and services for the Client Services Department, center staff, and Agency.
Assist in the development and implementation of Medical Standards and Guidelines and scheduled PPFA Accreditation process.
Ensure overall quality provision of medical services through forming and/or working on, leading and evaluating Agency and department committees.
Serve as a resource to Vice President of Clinical Operations and Compliance and the Client Services Manager to maintain a close, working knowledge of replacement staffing needs such as training, communication, protocol updates, etc. Maintain a close, working knowledge of the replacement staffing needs of the centers and the efficiency and productivity of licensed replacement staff.
Knowledge and experience working with NextGen electronic health records.
Functions as a clinician throughout the affiliate on an as needed basis.
Along with Medical Director, Oversees planning, content and facilitation of clinician meetings.
Assessing and handle medical-legal issues, subpoenas, and warrants, in consultation with PPFA and PPAC legal counsel as needed.
Coordination of Research projects and Preceptorship Requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current California NP, PA, CNM or other APC license.
Current CPR certificate.
Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful completion (licensure or certification) of accredited Advanced Practice Clinician program. Previous Planned Parenthood Administrative Experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), Knowledge of Electronic Health Records/Electronic Practice Management systems-NextGen
Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver’s License and insurance.
