Organization Description: The Coatesville Youth Initiative is an independent non-profit organization committed to training youth leaders, enhancing family relationships, building community collaborations, and encouraging prevention education. The mission of the Coatesville Youth Initiative is to contribute to a vibrant future for Coatesville by engaging youth in experiences that support their success in school and in life, and by uniting a wide range of partners to make the community better for everyone.

Position Description: The CYI Parental Engagement Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of the CYI Parental Engagement strategy including but not limited to: 1) facilitate a service providers group 2) provide parental support, 3) serve as a community resource for families, and 4) implement evidence-based practices to strengthen familial relationships between parent/child(ren) in the greater Coatesville community.

Position Duties: This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Case Management

Facilitate the Family Group Decision Making model, bringing family members together to make cooperative decisions about how to care for their children, and develop a plan for services.
Offer case management for families having more in-depth challenges. This includes an assessment of their needs, intake, goal setting, develop a plan, provide referrals, and monitor progress until the goal is achieved

Facilitate a service providers group

Facilitate a community-based providers group to coordinate services/resources available for families in need. This includes compiling a resource guide; improving the availability/utilization and access to services.
Facilitate a community effort to get parents more involved in their child/children’s education (e.g. Parent Conference Challenge).

Implement evidence-based practices to strengthen family relationships

Provide the Families and Schools Together (KidsFAST) program in an elementary school in the Coatesville Area School District.
Provide the Families and Schools Together (FAST) program in a middle school and/or community center in the Coatesville Area School District.
Provide the FASTWORKS program for families completing FAST. This includes monthly programming and parental support for families completing the FAST program.

Participate in Community Outreach

Attend meetings and events that relate to parental engagement in Chester County, and ties to your role.
Work with local schools, education agencies, youth-serving agencies and other community partners, to identify and implement solutions to issues surrounding youth and families

Required Skills and Experience:

Bilingual preferred; at a minimum, the ability to understand and to make one’s self understood to all Spanish speaking individuals
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with families, which should include experience working with families in crisis, involved with multiple systems, and/or difficulty accessing services

A minimum one year program coordination experience including participant outreach and recruitment, project management, program curriculum/model implementation, group facilitation, conflict resolution skills/techniques, resource and referral, etc.
Possess a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, a clean driving record and access to a reliable vehicle for frequent travel to and from work sites

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Knowledge of strength-based interventions, crisis management, trauma informed approaches, a plus

Ability to relate to a culturally diverse population, including the ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people and staff

Excellent oral and written communication, ability to keep accurate records and reports, and meet deadlines

Ability to work independently and as a member of a high performing team. Must be flexible, have initiative and operate at a high level of productivity. Ability to collaborate and delegate a must
Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with families, school officials, and service providers
Skillful in office-based computer applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power-Point, Outlook) and Internet & social media preferred

Complete Child Abuse, criminal and FBI clearances. (Can be reimbursed for police clearance.)
