Donor Relations Manager – Equality California – Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview:
Equality California and Equality California Institute seek a full-time Donor Relations Manager. The Donor Relations Manager is part of a seven-person development department that is responsible for the implementation of fundraising activities including individual major gifts and annual fund, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and large-scale event fundraising. This position is ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of experience in development, including direct experience executing individual giving annual fund campaigns, direct donor cultivation and stewardship, and development operations. Additional experience with major gifts and/or event fundraising is preferred. This position will be based in our Los Angeles office and will be supervised by the Director of Development.

Responsibilities:
Individual giving annual fund responsibilities include:
Develop and lead the execution of annual fund strategy for Capitol Club, EQCA’s sustaining donor program for annual gifts between $600-$4,999, including timeline and communication plans for email, direct mail, phone campaigns, and in-person solicitations.
Identify and research prospective donors; update research on existing donors.
Engage in direct 1:1 donor cultivation and asks.
Conceive of and execute individual giving cultivation and stewardship events throughout California.
Provide high level support to Executive Director, Director of Development, and Major Gifts Officer on all individual giving fundraising elements.
Represent EQCA at community events, dinners and lunches during evenings and weekends in order to identify and cultivate prospective donors.
Work with staff and outside consultant to sync strategy for all individual giving campaigns, including major gifts ($5,000+) and grassroots (up to $599) direct mail, telephone and digital.
Write donor correspondence, including newsletters, acknowledgements, emails, and meeting follow up.

Major event support:
Work collaboratively with Director of Development and Associate Director of Events and Sponsorships to support planning and execution of 5-6 annual galas, exceeding revenue goals for each event.
Strategize and manage live fundraising ask at all annual galas, with the goal of engaging event attendees as year-round individual.
Additional administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop a weekly metrics-based dashboard for reporting progress.
Maintain accurate records in the donor database, including pledges, payments and other donor information.
Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event or project.
Keep track of individual giving finances including check requests, invoicing, collections and reporting.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university required
3-5 years individual giving annual fund experience required
Experience working with non-profits or political organizations preferred
Extreme attention to detail as well as time management and multi-tasking ability
Experience with budget management strongly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
Proficiency in MS Office and/or G Suite (Google) programs is required
Experience working with Salesforce a plus
Ability to prioritize and handle variety of projects simultaneously
Passion and commitment to addressing issues impacting the LGBT community as well as advancing equality and social justice generally
Commitment to working across lines of difference including race, class, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and age
Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team in a fast-paced environment
Sense of humor and self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit are a plus
Salary will be based on experience and includes competitive benefits (healthcare, dental, vision, long/short term disability, life insurance and 401K). This full time position will be based out of our Los Angeles office and will require a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work time, as well as occasional travel within the region. Applicants will be reimbursed for mileage, but must have a car and be able to drive within the region.
