Director of Development – The Cinefamily – Los Angeles, CA

The Cinefamily is a Los Angeles based non-profit cinematheque known for the innovativeness and quality of its programming and outreach. Our mission is “to revitalize the theatrical experience through community and discovery”. With this as our goal, we have made going to the movies awesome again by building an engaged, dedicated audience. By maintaining our community-focus we have built a loyal following through sharing and discovering “wild weird and wonderful films from around the world”.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Cinefamily is building a Development Department. We are an independent, mission driven organization that is seeking an individual who would be excited by what we do and knows how to strategize fundraising, grow membership, and build connections all to expand the reach of the Cinefamily brand. We have had a lot of success building a community that really likes what we do. Now we want to go farther, and need development help to make that happen.

This is a hands on, build-it-yourself kind of opportunity with a company planning on expanding

The Director of Development will direct all aspects of building a multi platform fundraising initiative including:
membership program expansion
identify individual donor, foundation and government prospects for support
Advise on CRM system
development of fundraising strategies, and preparation of proposals, applications, reports, budgets, correspondence and other written and financial materials.
Manage stewardship of active grants in the fundraising portfolio as well as select program endowments.
Assist with ongoing expansion of the donor base through prospect identification, research and strategic cultivation/solicitation.
Work collaboratively with all departments to develop events and programs
Represent Cinefamily at events outside off site

Qualifications and Special Requirements:

3-5 years development experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of local and national funding resources
Capacity to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to be self-directed and work independently in a fast-paced work environment
Working knowledge of foundation and government research resources
Must be able to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Collaborative, flexible and positive work ethic
Demonstrated grant writing success
Must work evening events periodically
Love of film is imperative
Knowledge of Cinefamily is a huge plus
