Development Associate – This Is My Brave, Inc. – Leesburg, VA

Development Operations:
Manage correspondence with donors, including producing and mailing donor acknowledgement letters, and internal tracking in NeonCRM
Manage accurate and timely records and reports for This Is My Brave’s fundraising database (recording and data entry of donations in NeonCRM)
Ensure all donations (checks, online, stock gifts) are coded accurately on deposit and financial documentation
Maintain accurate and updated mailing lists for fundraising appeals and communications
Produce charts and graphs identifying where team is against fundraising goals

Communications:
Understand and be highly conversant in This Is My Brave’s mission, vision and goals
Create and manage fundraising email and print campaigns, including monthly giving program, Mental Health Month, Giving Tuesday and Year-End Campaigns
Help plan social media fundraising campaigns
Create and edit content as needed for reports, website, and other printed This Is My Brave collateral

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:
Collaborate with Board members and selected donors to identify new potential donors
Identify opportunities and ways to acknowledge and thank donors beyond letters
Relationship management with individual donors, foundations, and corporate donors through scheduling and setting up meetings for Executive Director to touch-base and meet with funders
Submit monthly reports to the Board and Advisory Board with fundraising updates
Donor research, cultivation and follow up with donors post meeting
Researching and producing background materials on donors prior to meeting to prepare staff

National and Special Events:
Create and track event budgets and expenditures
Assist in defining target sponsors for local events across the country and special annual events
Inviting target donors and sponsors to events to develop relationship and further funding
Attending events to assist in donor cultivation
Other:
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Vibrant and mature individual with a background in, or passion for arts.
5+ years of development experience. Experience in other areas such as membership, grant writing or corporate support desirable.
Experience with NeonCRM or similar nonprofit donor database.
Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.
The capacity and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with donors and other constituencies.
Evenings and weekend work periodically required.
Preference is for this candidate to be based in the Washington, D.C., metro area, with the possibility to work from home. A flexible schedule (5-10 hours a week) with the chance to grow into a full-time position. Hourly rate range $25-35, commensurate with skills and experience.
