Architectural/Interior Designer – The Heart of America Foundation

Key Responsibilities:
Create comprehensive design packages for transformation projects of all scales.
Present design package to internal HOA team for review and approval. Present to external partners as required.
Work with Operations/Innovation/Programs to successfully execute transformation projects of all scales.
Other Duties as Assigned
Create comprehensive design packages for transformation projects of all scales:
o Create layouts and design concept decks for space transformation projects within assigned design schedule.
o Manage the design components of transformation projects, including involvement in all phases of the design process: From gathering information during site visits and initial programming calls to conceptual design and design development through production of specifications, plan, elevation and detail drawings.
o Design within program materials budget.
o Ensure lean and efficient design processes by identifying and communicating opportunities and strategies for improvement.
o Select and specify finishes and communicate extent through drawings.
o Select and specify furnishings and fixtures. Create procurement list and communicate specifications within design package.
o Maintain brand consistency for HOA and partners.
o Provide design direction and recommendations through initial design package.
o Develop sponsor-specific design elements and insure sponsor branding is included in design package.
o Design and coordinate graphics package within design package.
o Edit and build graphics with inspiring and motivational visual elements for the various space types and stakeholders served.
Present design package to internal HOA team for review and approval. Present to external partners as required:
o Conduct internal review/approval meetings for designs prior to external presentation that fully outline the proposed specifications, adhere to the proposed project budget and timeline.
o Incorporate client feedback in revisions and updates to design package.
o Review design work for accuracy before finalizing.
o Present to external partners, i.e. sponsors and end-users via web-conferencing software.
Work with Operations/Innovation/Programs to successfully execute transformation projects of all scales:
Work with Innovation/Programs to support promo/marketing efforts as needed.
Work with Innovation/Programs to assist in setting scope expectations for transformation projects.
Work with Innovation to outline areas which may require professional services outside of HOA. Assist in the coordination as related specifically to design.
Assist with procurement as needed.

Other Duties as Assigned:
Stay up-to-date with latest educational design concepts/pedagogy, furnishings and tools.
Maintain continuing education as needed, if licensed.
Work with external design partners.
This position requires flexibility and adaptability. There will be tasks assigned that are outside of this job description from time to time.

Skills and/or Knowledge
Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design required. Minimum two years of professional architectural design experience preferred
AutoCAD/Revit required; Adobe InDesign and Photoshop strongly preferred.
Graphic design skills, including layout and production skills preferred.
Portfolio of completed design projects. Projects related to education and/or learning environments preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without close supervision
Experience in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while successfully staying on budget and within the project timeline.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with all groups involved in transformation work, i.e. design professionals, trades, sponsors, project teams, etc.
Clear and strong ability to articulate design initiatives and concepts. Excellent verbal and written skillss
Proficiency in MS Office and similar business communications/organizational tools
Travel, including weekends, is required.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an SUV or mini-van
