Director of Safety – HELP USA – New York, NY

HELP USA, a nationally recognized leader in the provision of transitional housing, residential and social services has the following position available at one of our sites located within the NYC metropolitan area:

DIRECTOR OF SAFETY

Directs the facility’s safety program in accordance with HELP USA Policies and Procedures; supervises Senior Safety Supervisor and Safety Monitor Supervisors; responds to emergency conditions in the facility; and is available for weekend monitoring. Plans, directs, and organizes the operation of a twenty-four hour safety program. Recruits, hires, and orients all new monitor staff. Prepares staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage of each shift. Develops and implements plans for ongoing staff training and skill development for all staff. Serves as fire and safety director overseeing all safety related matters including evacuation procedures and enforcement of rules and regulations, correcting violations. Liaison with police, fire department, and other enforcement agencies. Schedule, conduct, and document fire drills. Reviews and advises on safety related policies and procedures. Ensures preparation and timely delivery of monthly reports, incident reports and all required documentation. Holds regular staff meetings and ensures ongoing accurate communication; attending scheduled staff and supervisory meetings. Functions as Administrator On-Call on a rotational basis and respond to emergencies. May advise personnel at other HELP USA sites on security related matters.

Requirements: Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree a plus. Minimum of five years, preferably seven years of experience in law enforcement or related field; and two years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or capacity to work with homeless families/individuals and/or disadvantaged populations. A valid U.S. driver’s license is required. Computer literate specifically in Microsoft applications required.
