Foundations & Government Relations Manager – Row New York

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and lead a high-impact institutional giving identification, solicitation, and stewardship strategy involving current and new foundation partners, including private, family, community, and corporate foundations, as well as government agencies, to meet institutional revenue goals (currently $1.7 million)
Actively and thoroughly research a diverse range of institutional funding sources to identify compatibility and interest in RNY’s mission, including analysis of lapsed, current, and prospective partners
Effectively leverage internal resources to generate timely and compelling grant materials, proposals, case statements, letters of inquiry, presentations, acknowledgment letters, reports, and other funder communications
Serve as the primary relationship manager for institutional funders, prepare for and host site visits that provide visitors with a deep understanding of program impact, and help keep program officers abreast of programmatic updates, progress and challenges
Promote and advocate for RNY’s mission and programs to elected officials, government agencies and grant partners
Manage and oversee an institutional donor pipeline by maintaining up to date and complete funder data in Salesforce
Ensure program and other staff are aware of funder requirements; coordinate with operations and program staff to provide timely and accurate responses to funder requests for program success metrics, such as athletic, academic, and social-emotional learning indicators
Prepare budgets and financial reports as needed to accompany proposals and grant reports; prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports tracking key performance indicators and institutional giving activities for finance staff and senior leadership
Act as a team player to achieve income goals by being proactive, exercising strong communication and relationship skills, staying calm and being flexible
Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in institutional giving through networks, professional associations, and continuing education

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
2 to 3 years of professional experience in grant writing or other institutional giving role, with a proven record of success in meeting fundraising goals (significant internship and volunteer experience will be considered)
Experience in cultivating meaningful and long-term relationships with private, family, or community foundations and government agencies
Superior writing, organizational, and time management skills with experience prioritizing multiple assignments, meeting tight deadlines, and demonstrating flexibility
Equally comfortable playing external and internal roles with a professional and warm demeanor, developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Proactive and creative problem solver who takes initiative and has the ability to work individually with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Proficiency with donor databases is a must; Salesforce experience is preferred
Results-driven and positive team player who thrives in an authentic, feedback-driven culture
Experience with nonprofit budgeting and finances
Strong motivation and commitment to RNY’s mission, our participants, and their success; experience in a youth-serving nonprofit in New York City preferred
High level of emotional intelligence, cultural competency; ability to communicate with sensitivity and work with diverse populations
