Construction Superintendent – San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity – Azusa, CA

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, seeks an employee who has a heart for helping low-income families achieve homeownership. He/she must be highly organized, motivated and productive in producing homes on schedule. The successful applicant will work with the affiliate’s Director of Construction and the Construction Committee to provide construction leadership for the Desiderio Homes in Pasadena for a period of approximately 36 months. This employee will communicate and model the mission of Habitat for Humanity, will identify and utilize volunteers with Crew Leader skills, and will train and supervise volunteers and homebuyers to accomplish the Desiderio Homes build within the defined schedule and budget. He/she will directly supervise all aspects of the build site to accomplish goals established by the Board of Directors and the Director of Construction.

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $44,520 – $50,108 depending on experience

Essential Duties

Leads all aspects of on-site vertical home construction with volunteers, partner families, and groups
Provides leadership, guidance, and direction to volunteers and donor groups who have come to work on the construction site
Coordinates with Director of Construction to make certain there are enough materials and tools for the number of volunteers coming to work
Coordinates with Volunteer Manager and Crew Leaders for adequate volunteer supervision
Conducts daily safety briefing and task instruction for all volunteers prior to beginning construction on the work site
Leads in loading and unloading of building materials and tools on site and into the warehouse
Attends all SGV Habitat trainings and scheduled activities
Ensures that all SGVH and HFHI covenants and policies are followed at construction sites
Assists in other duties as assigned

Some higher education
Previous Volunteer Leadership with Habitat for Humanity

Minimum requirements

Is regularly available for Saturday and weekday work
High school diploma or GED
Five years construction experience required
Ability to manage all aspects of vertical construction with volunteers
Understands and endorses Habitat for Humanity’s philosophy and mission
Strong communication skills
Strong leadership skills
Willingness to collaborate with SGV Habitat staff and learn & teach new skills
Takes initiative
Works independently as well as with groups
Has a valid driver’s license and is able to successfully pass a background screening
Able to manage schedule to accomplish projects within defined parameters
