Student Coordinator – America’s College Fund For Foster Youth – Sterling, VA

Foster Care to Success is recruiting a student coordinator for their Sterling, Virginia office who will support a cohort of FC2S grant recipients attending colleges across the US. The fulltime position is part of a team of coordinators who engage with youth 18-24 via phone calls, email and text messages. The work week is Monday through Friday including 2 evenings a week; work hours vary by position. Initial training will be provided, along with ongoing training and skill building throughout the year. The start date is June 15.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or a social science (Masters not required)
Minimum 2 years paid/professional, relevant work experience
Excellent telephone presence
Strong command of the English language for email and text messaging communication
Above average experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel

Excellent listening skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts into their essential parts and evaluate/articulate subtle information and clues in real-time
A high emotional IQ with an acute sensitivity to the challenges disadvantaged teens and young adults face along with patience and a sense of humor
Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay on task. No two days are alike; flexibility and multitasking are a part of the job
Professional and mature workplace attitude and behaviors
Self-motivation and the ability to work without constant supervision, along with the ability to ask for help and guidance in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment

Tasks

Spend approximately six hours daily on the telephone working directly with youth ages 18-24
Use a systems approach to efficiently predict, assess and respond to varying amounts and types of information over both the workday and academic year
Document interactions with students in our software, with an emphasis on capturing comprehensive, qualitative and useful data
Process documentation and handle faxes (electronic and paper), email and voice mail
Calculate and process student funding

Telecommuting is not an option with this position.
