POSITION: The Literacy Lab is seeking a hard working, organized, full-time Program Associate for the Missouri Reading Corps. This position is an excellent opportunity to help establish a nationally-recognized early literacy intervention program in the state of Missouri. The Program Associate furthers the implementation of the Missouri Reading Corps by helping to support the Program Manager, tutors, and school sites. The Program Associate helps recruit a high-quality team of tutors and helps ensure compliance with AmeriCorps grant requirements. The Program Associate is also responsible for data management and analysis.
ABOUT THE LITERACY LAB: The Literacy Lab is a fast-paced, Washington, DC-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide low-income children with individualized reading instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. We partner with school districts to add capacity in high-need schools to close the literacy achievement gap for children before third grade. The Literacy Lab is launching the Missouri Reading Corps program in the Kansas City area in the 2015-16 school year.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Associate, who is based in Kansas City and reports to the Missouri Reading Corps Program Manager, is responsible for the following:
Supporting the implementation of the Missouri Reading Corps and ensuring fidelity to the Reading Corps model.
Managing components of the recruitment of a diverse team of high-performing, full-time Reading Corps tutors to serve in Kansas City.
Working with the Program Manager and Literacy Lab staff to plan and organize a summer training institute and ongoing professional development for tutors and coaches.
Monitoring and managing student and tutor data for timeliness and accuracy; analyzing and reporting on data for stakeholders.
Managing tutor files and program elements in accordance with AmeriCorps requirements.
Providing logistical and administrative support.
QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates with:

Experience in education and/or with high-need communities is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.
The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem solving skills and a can-do attitude.
Strong professional communication skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 (or later) software, especially Word and Excel.
