Education Specialist Assistant – Harlem RBI – Bronx, NY

Harlem RBI, an award winning sports-based youth development program, is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the part-time Education Specialist Assistant for the REAL Kids (Reading and Enrichment Academy for Learning) comprehensive after-school program in the South Bronx.

Reporting to the South Bronx Education Specialist, the Education Specialist Assistant is responsible for assisting the Education Specialist in curriculum management and teacher professional development. He or she works to ensure that the REAL Kids teaching team is well supported to deliver the innovative REAL Kids curriculum in Literacy and Early Childhood Education. In addition to general teacher support, the Education Specialist Assistant is responsible for gathering comprehensive youth assessment data for the purpose of both placement and progress reporting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Serve as the first line of support to the Education Specialist;
Use collection tools and methods so that each youth has a baseline assessment that can be converted to grade level for schools and external partners;
Serve as temporary substitute, when necessary;
Provide support to site-based instructional staff for after-school program;
Help to develop and deliver training in Early Childhood Education to all instructional staff;
Provide professional development to teachers in REAL Kids teaching strategies like co-facilitation, project-based learning and collaborative learning;
Manage and analyze staff performance data to identify trends and gaps that drive strategy for professional development of teachers throughout program year.


Bachelor’s degree required;
Masters degree preferred;
2 years of elementary school classroom teaching experience;
Experience working in an after school program;
Experience in training and developing teachers preferred;
Passionately mission aligned;
Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful.

Hours: Part-time from 3:30pm – 6pm for 3 days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays, and one additional day per week). Additional hours offered.
