LAMP Engineer / PHP Developer – Confluence Corp – Washington, DC

Confluence has an immediate opening for a talented LAMP developer who thrives working on a wide variety of interesting projects. Confluence’s client base consists of nonprofit organizations with missions from helping the homeless, advocating for a clean environment, international development, literacy, ending homeless and many other areas.

This position is perfect for someone who likes to work with open source systems, hosting / server environments, and clients, learning something new every day. In your role as a backend developer, in between designing and implementing custom applications in PHP, other kinds of tasks you may perform could include troubleshooting a corrupted MySQL database, rebuilding / cleaning an infected WordPress website, or programming an appropriately encapsulated extension to a Joomla! website. Requirements for this position include:

Minimum of 5 years hands-on, substantive work with Linux, MySQL, Apache and PHP
4 year college degree, preferred in Computer Science
Expert PHP programming skills
Some experience with one or more of Drupal, Joomla, WordPress (prefer combination)
Ability to program / use Javascript and XML
Ability to design and implement MySQL databases, as well as troubleshoot and maintain
Experience with Bootstrap, Symphony, and / or other frameworks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort working directly with clients
Experience migrating websites from one shared or VPS host to another
Ability to thrive whether working within a team or independently
Designing and implementing functional website components in an open source CMS
Working with front-end developers, create web interfaces, widgets, rich clients and other front-end components (HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript)
Optimize pages for cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility
