Communications Officer – Center for World Religions, Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolution – Arlington, VA

Communications Officer Responsibilities
Work with the director to create professional educational podcasts and videos of superior quality, and to market them widely through innovative techniques
Cultivate relationships with traditional and new media outlets and place op-eds, arrange interviews, and promote articles, podcasts and videos
Develop and implement the center’s social media strategy, including writing content for publication on multiple social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
Effectively disseminate podcasts, YouTube videos, articles, and blog posts to substantially raise the visibility of CRDC and its messages regarding peacebuilding and healing conflicts, particularly for an American audience about American reconciliation challenges
Utilize already existing content (extracts from books, videos of previous public appearances, quotes from articles) to raise the profile of CRDC’s work in order to educate the public and socialize the messages of tolerance, pluralism, and reconciliation between extremes
Work with the director to identify methods of reaching out to American constituencies that are vulnerable to extremism and polarization
Manage a small budget for promoting books, podcasts, videos, and blog posts
Organize outreach efforts focused on three different constituencies: 1)supporters of CRDC and Dr. Gopin’s work and ideas; 2) individuals who are vulnerable to polarization and fragmentation in the current environment; 3) new supporters who have not been tapped
Communicate effectively with other CRDC team members and embrace a team-oriented approach
Pay great attention to fine details
Take pride in a clean, organized office and high-quality work

The ideal candidate for the Communications Officer position will have the following qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Bachelor’s degree with high academic achievement
Experience using Audible or similar audio or video software to produce high-quality content (portfolio samples welcome)
Understanding of basic principles of marketing, branding, public relations, communications, audio/video production, and event planning
Excellent computer skills, including familiarity and experience using Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Google Drive, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
Strong organizational and planning skills and high attention to detail
