Secondary responsibilities include:
Monitoring youth participation providing an encouraging and supportive environment;
Assisting with general program support including: event/meeting set-up, communications with program providers, assisting with logistics (procuring supplies, getting food, getting laundry done, errands);
Daily health monitoring. Collaboration with a health specialist to model, uphold, and monitor health protocols and guidelines; and
Escorting and monitoring group on outings.
Key Dates and Workflow:
temporary, full time position from June 20 to August 1, 2022. (Dates are subject to adjustments.)
June 20-24: Virtual Staff Training
July 3-7: In-person staff training and program set-up at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA
July 8-10: Assist with arrivals in Washington, DC (near IAD), or set-up at Virginia Tech
July 10-26: Virginia Tech Program, Blacksburg, VA
July 26-30: Program wrap-up in Washington DC
August 1: Staff departures
Option to serve as an international flight escort at the end of the program for select staff
Qualifications:
Previous resident advisors or have group leading experience with teens;
Ages 20 and older (rising college seniors or older preferred);
Prior peer leadership experience and enjoys spending time with high school students;
Strong facilitation and group building skills;
Have a passion for tech and gender empowerment;
Willing to work in an intensive, cross-cultural environment with limited personal time;
Prior international travel is a plus but not required; and
Ready for an intense, challenging, and rewarding summer!
Note: U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
Additional Qualifications Points:
1st Aid & CPR certification is a plus, but not required.
Virtual programming/facilitation experience preferred but not required.
Able to promote a safe environment of academic development and social awareness.

Other Perks & Expenses Covered by Legacy:
Housing and meals throughout staff training and program delivery, while on duty with the program, are covered. At Virginia Tech staff housing is in the same dorm as the youths, in a single occupancy rooms. While in Washington DC hotels, you will share a room with one other staff member.
Transportation, admission fees and other associate program costs while traveling with the group staff and participants are also covered.
Transportation to job location – negotiated at time of offer.
Potential to serve as a flight escort at the end of the summer program and visit another country!
