Farmers’ Market Information Tent Support/Food Relief Distribution – Heart of the City Farmers Market – San Francisco

Responsibilities:
Farmers’ market information tent customer service and line management in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
Processing high-volume credit card and CalFresh EBT card payments to assist farmers’ market customers to purchase market tokens and vouchers to spend with vendors
Assisting with critical food relief distribution to address rising food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting the nation’s largest farmers’ market food access program to distribute over $2 million in food assistance each year to San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents in the form of tokens and vouchers to buy additional produce from small farmers
Providing orientations for new customers and answering customer questions about the market
Alerting security guards and managers to security issues via radio to diffuse confrontations without anger or violence in a high-crime neighborhood
Must be able to remain neutral and calm in challenging interactions with customers
Farmers market is open rain or shine including most holidays
Requires working outside under a canopy tent in all weather conditions
Consistent and reliable attendance is required
Bilingual Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Russian, Arabic, or Spanish preferred
Shift hours:
Wednesdays: 7am to 3:30pm
Sundays: 7am to 3:30pm
