Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is the largest single provider of transitional housing in New York City. At our five American Family Inns, families receive the education, job training, and support services necessary to maintain permanent housing and become self-sufficient.
HFH seeks Camp Recruiters to recruit children from various homeless shelters throughout New York City to attend our summer camp. We are looking for enthusiastic, driven and ambitious recruiters with a strong work ethic. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Build working relationships with shelter staff to publicize the program and organize recruiting information sessions, in the shelter, for interested parents Recruit and enroll eligible children from assigned shelters Assist parents throughout the application process Respond timely to parent and staff inquiries Collect and organize camp applications and materials Ensure that eligible applicants show up for sendoff to the corresponding camp session, at the assigned camp pick up date and location
Positive and upbeat personality
Exceptional interpersonal skills, experience with group work, demonstrated team player
Ability to build and maintain working relationships with shelter staff
Organized and detail oriented, able to meet deadlines
Proficiency in maintaining necessary records/paperwork
Strong written and oral communication skills
Creative thinker and problem solver Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Ability to work during evenings and/or weekends as necessary
