Business Support Lead – Black Farmer Fund – New York

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide business acumen support to BFF selected businesses
Support each business with setting financial goals, business planning and growth strategies that identify long term funding needs to reach entrepreneur’s goals
Work 1-1 with entrepreneur(s) to identify learning goals for each business, and what relevant service providers would be supportive
Serve as a connector between businesses and Technical Assistance (TA) service providers; ensuring timely delivery of business assistance services that meets objectives and deliverables, and reporting on results.
Conduct monthly check-ins businesses and report back to BFF team on progress on their goals
Support due diligence team (Impact Associates and Fund Director) on incoming applications for businesses seeking funding as needed.
Relationship building with BFF funded businesses
Plan and coordinate cohort skillshares/learning exchanges based on needs and interest of BFF selected businesses
Participate in relationship building activities such as site visits and virtual calls as needed
Lead the development of a directory of BIPOC TA service providers with expertise in relevant topics of agribusiness operations, marketing and financial management
Build out spreadsheet of service providers that can be used for future purposes

EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience providing Technical Assistance (TA) and identifying and procuring TA service providers for financial, marketing and legal needs for diversified small farmers and or food businesses or previous business management of a farm or food business
Experience providing support with building business plans and models for non-traditional farm and food business.
Experience serving as a “case manager” or “focal point” for individuals requiring support + consistent follow-up
Ability to work with diverse groups of people, including partner organizations.
Demonstrated interest in and understanding of economic justice, integrated capital models, non-extractive capital, sustainability, and/or related topics

BFF seeks candidates that exhibit both mission alignment and professional competency in the following areas:
Excellent skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, problem solving and general critical thinking
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter and ability to work independently
Resourceful, proactive, able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Understanding of the historical context of racial injustice in the US, particularly in the agricultural landscape
Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple business and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Excellent organization, attention to detail and follow-through
Unquestioned ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner

JOB DETAILS
Salary Range: $65,000 – 80,000/year salary
Time Commitment: FTE
Reports directly to the Program Director
Remote position with 10-15% travel
