Specific Responsibilities
● Cataloging public artworks in Mural Arts’ collection
○ Historical cataloging tasks include, but are not limited to, adding and editing descriptive metadata to object records
○ Creating and updating authority records for artists (e.g. names, URLs, and biographical information) and places (e.g. address/GIS data)
● Conducting research into mural projects as necessary to assist in data clean-up tasks
● Communicating regularly (via email and/or Zoom) with the Public Art Cataloger about project progress
Preferred Qualifications
● MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent advanced degree or certification
● 1+ years cataloging experience in library, archives, or museum setting
● Knowledge of best practices in archival and cataloging standards; knowledge of or willingness to learn about best practices in historic preservation standards
● Knowledge of the use and application of standardized vocabularies and thesauri
● Adequate knowledge of digital asset management systems and content management systems
● Familiarity with CollectionSpace CMS and the Public Art Archive a plus
● Experience using Google Workspace (esp. Docs and Sheets), Google Maps, Google Street View (for locating GIS data), and other cloud-based systems
● Familiarity with and interest in public art and social practice, and Philadelphia public history
● Research experience a plus
