Advertising Manager – Whole Whale – New York

Responsibilities
Digital Advertising Campaign Strategy
Oversee paid digital advertising campaign strategy for 3-5 nonprofit clients, supporting in recommending budgets, platforms, targeting, campaign messaging, and more
Ensure accurate execution of digital advertising campaigns for clients across platforms, including but not limited to Meta, Google (video, search, display), programmatic display, and more
Manage nonprofit Google Ad Grant accounts, including providing high-level direction for search budgets, bid strategies, keyword targeting, and ad messaging
Brainstorm new campaign ideas and testing opportunities to drive more conversions and increase return — you are never satisfied with flat lines on a graph
Deepen and expand the expertise and capacity of Whole Whale’s advertising department through research of new ad platforms, tools, strategies, and tactics to drive success
Client Account Management
Serve as the main point of contact for 1-3 nonprofit clients; lead regular meetings, set client expectations, answer questions, guide strategy, present reports and deliverables, and communicate progress on projects
Provide a 30K foot view for clients to best leverage Whole Whale’s digital marketing capabilities to help them make progress towards their impact goals; translate client goals into tasks that can be supported by the broader Whole Whale team
Lead project management for assigned clients; define project objectives, set timelines, and work with team members to delegate work relevant to their expertise to meet project milestones and deadlines
Be a partner and advocate for clients internally and find ways to deliver quality service and support, exceed their expectations, and increase their digital impact
Lead Zoom and in-person trainings and presentations on topics related to digital impact measurement, advertising, or other areas of expertise

People management: Act as the direct manager for employees on the Advertising team
Business development: Support our business development efforts, including communicating with potential leads, joining pitch calls, and drafting proposals for new work
Product leadership: Support our product team in managing WW products (like Whole Whale University and WWU Live) and/or in pitching and developing new products (like our new Inclusivity Tool) that support our nonprofit partners
Whole Whale marketing: Build, scale and produce WW content (site resources, videos, social content, etc.) and find other creative ways of marketing our services and products
Internal operations: Take part in internal processes for hiring new team members, choosing client projects to work on, building WW culture, cultivating internal expertise, or participating in other internal systems

Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of digital advertising strategy & tactics, including for lead generation, fundraising, traffic, conversions, and brand awareness
Experience building and managing digital advertising campaigns on Facebook, Google, YouTube, and/or other digital platforms
Demonstrated experience effectively managing project workflows independently
2+ years of professional experience, especially in roles involving digital marketing and/or project management with a high bar for rigor, quality, and integrity
Comfortable moving seamlessly from big picture strategy to supporting on tactical implementation when needed
Creative problem-solver driven by a need to look to the data, iterate, think outside the box, and try new things to deliver even better results
Great attention to detail and organizational skills – able to successfully and independently manage multiple projects at once

Every full-time hire undergoes a three-month “swim test” but is eligible to enroll in core benefits like health, vision, and dental care right away.

Student loan assistance: After 1 year, whalers can receive up to $600/yr ($50 off their monthly payments) to support paying off their student loans (up to $1800/yr after 3+ yrs).
Commission: Whalers can earn a 5% commission fee up to $5,000 for any new business they generate.
Work abroad month: After 2.5 years, full-time employees have the opportunity to work abroad for up to one month. Includes a reduced 4-day work week and up to $2,500 towards the trip cost (reputable remote work partners provided).
Paid parental leave: New parents can take up to 12 weeks of paid leave to be with their new child. After that, up to 3 months of unpaid leave or flexible time can be arranged.
