Director of Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches – NeighborWorks Affiliate – Los Angeles, CA

Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M) is a program of Little Tokyo Service Center. A3M’s mission is to save lives by helping patients in need find matching bone marrow and blood transplants. A3M does this by recruiting people to sign up to become potential marrow/blood stem cell donors by registering with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), through its Be the Match Registry. Because the chance of finding a strong donor match is most likely within ethnic groups, and because donor registration among minorities is disproportionally low, A3M donor recruitment focuses outreach in minority communities, with special emphasis on Asian and Pacific Islander, and Latino communities.

The Director’s responsibilities include:

Management of donor recruitment efforts to insure that A3M meets or exceeds goals established by the NMDP, including establishing priorities and guiding outreach efforts and donor drives with corporate partners, on campus recruitment, developing campaigns with individual patients in need of a transplant, and online efforts.
Oversight over other A3M programs including patient support services, community education, and donor follow-up
Oversight over resource development efforts including supervision of the Development staff implementing A3M’s annual fundraising event, cultivating A3M’s donor (financial) base, coordinating with third party fundraisers by supporters, and pursuing corporate and foundation grants
Developing and managing A3M’s budget and insuring the financial health of A3M, including annual and longer term budget planning, cash flow projections, coordination with the Finance department of the fiscal sponsor (Little Tokyo Service Center), cash management and control
Maintaining relationship with and contract compliance with NMDP guidelines, standards and requirements, liason with NMDP leadership and participation in the NMDP planning process, coordinating participation in reginoal Be The Match events
External relations for A3M including other recruitment organizations, hospitals, key supporters and funders, key partners and collaborators, including maintaining advisory bodies or support committees, and oversight over volunteer management and recognition
Oversight with administrative matters including human resources, operations, and coordination as needed with the fiscal sponsor

4 year experience working in a nonprofit community organization
2 years of experience in a supervisorial and management position including experience with personnel management, program development, external relations and budget management
