Leadership Montgomery seeks a full-time Director, Marketing & Memberships to join its growing team as this dynamic organization approaches its 29th Anniversary year.

Who we are
For nearly 30 years, Leadership Montgomery has built bridges between the private, public, and nonprofit sectors of Montgomery County, Maryland to improve the community — the neighborhoods people live in and the business they work in. Today, we provide six curriculum-and service-based programs: Core, Emerging Leaders, Senior, Inside Montgomery, Youth and our Corporate Volunteer Council, as well as our post-graduate programming, and special events. We have a small office staff with a “family” atmosphere. The work atmosphere is high energy and never dull. What you will be doing
The Director, Marketing & Membership is responsible for managing the brand of the organization and communicating the organization’s mission and offerings through oversight of websites, social media pages, email marketing, media relations, and general marketing initiatives. The Director, Marketing & Membership is responsible for communications and marketing to promote the organization to internal and external constituents. Additionally, the Director, Marketing & Membership is responsible for the planning and execution of all membership events for the organization. The Director, Marketing & Membership will play an important role in fostering and maintaining a strong relationship with Leadership Montgomery’s members.

Roles and Responsibilities
o Communications and Marketing Direction (Approximately 60%)
o Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications and social media marketing plan to Leadership Montgomery’s unique audiences
o Generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action
o Put communication vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
o Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral, including but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and the Leadership Montgomery website
o Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) are posted regularly; prepare content for special sections on the website, e.g., Sponsor and Member Profiles
o Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
o Design and implement strategies for growing LM’s contact list
o Foster and maintain media relations, including pitching and sending out press releases
o Responsible for the Annual Report
o Assist with other projects as needed

Membership Management (Approximately 40%)
o Oversee all aspects of event operations, including planning and execution of member events
o Manage and cultivate vendor relations; research and negotiate contracts for space, food, beverage, supplies, audiovisual equipment, etc.
o Responsible for tracking event registration and revenue targets and ensuring that visibility is maximized to the appropriate audiences
o Manage Celebration of Leadership, the organization’s major annual fundraising event:
o Event management, contract negotiation with event site and vendors
o Promote and oversee the process of solicitation and selection of the Outstanding and Corporate Leadership awards
o Annual Membership Management
o Create and manage the annual membership dues solicitation campaign, including print and electronic components
o Maintain updated member information
o Serve as the liaison with alumni Class Connectors

Required Qualifications and Necessary Skills
Technology
o Experience with email marketing platforms, i.e. Constant Contact, MailChimp, Vertical Response etc.;
o Experience/aptitude with CRM database products or other constituent relationship management systems required; and
o Complete proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Relationship Building
o Sophisticated people management skills, including the ability to inspire and support volunteers, and motivate and delegate to staff;
o Capacity to collaborate creatively, sensitively, and professionally with a diverse, highly educated staff, Board members, volunteer corps and members of our organization, and
o Professional approach and willingness to support the team fully, including peers and leadership, to fully meet the needs of a growing Leadership Montgomery.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
o Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3+ years experience supporting an organization’s marketing, PR, events or communications functions;
o Unwavering commitment to Leadership Montgomery’s mission for community building and leadership development;
o Solid project management skills, including the ability to collaboratively set goals, effectively plan for their achievement and evaluate outcomes;
o Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a vital and contributing member of a team;
o Time management to juggle multiple competing priorities, deadlines and tasks;
o Sound judgment, reliability, trustworthiness; and willingness to own the position fully;
o Innately curious, creative, and hungry to make a strong contribution to Leadership Montgomery;
o Strong writing, quantitative, oral communications, critical thinking, technology and listening skills;
o Ability to think strategically and analytically with strong attention to detail and accuracy; and
o Ability to remain highly organized and self-disciplined

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
o Full-time salaried positon; benefits provided
o Standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends
o Usually works in an office environment but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces
