Development Director – Habitat for Humanity Monroe County Indiana – Bloomington, IN

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County seeks a Director of Development to set and guide the necessary fundraising strategy ensuring that we have the funding necessary to achieve our mission in Monroe County. The Director of Development is responsible for all aspects of the development program and will identify, cultivate, and solicit major grants, sponsorships, corporate and foundation gifts, major gifts, and planned giving.

The Director of Development will establish financial goals for Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County and develop a comprehensive fundraising program to include corporate, individual, and foundation giving. Identify and cultivate new prospects; ensure that a robust portfolio of prospective major gift donors are being contacted and visited by the CEO and board members. Enhance current donor relationships, and cultivate relationships with targeted individuals, corporations and foundations.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Innovative thinker with demonstrated success promoting and advancing organizations’ vision and business plans.
Demonstrated marketing and PR expertise
Demonstrated success in building a giving culture and engaging key players in major fundraising activities, translating broad goals into achievable steps, setting and managing appropriate expectations, and planning and meeting deadlines.

Ability to handle complex concepts and make informed decisions; detail-oriented, organized and efficient in managing projects and programs from plans to evaluation of results.

Experience developing and coordinating strategies to deepen Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County’s relationships with donors through large and small events, strategy sessions, and one-on-one visits. Plan and participate in donor meetings, site visits, and special donor cultivation events.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CREDENTIALS:

Demonstrated major gift and corporate giving experience success, with dollar amounts cited.

Minimum of 7 years progressive fundraising experience in the not for profit environment, with increasing levels of authority and responsibility.

Proven leadership and teamwork capabilities.

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail and high degree of initiative.

Excellent written communication, research, and organizational skills.

A bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree a plus.
