Communications and Marketing Specialist – Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles |

Essential Duties
• In collaboration with the CCALA staff and committees and in coordination with external program partners and stakeholders, establish and implement strategic communications plans, and activities to achieve the programmatic goals for each program.
• Work collaboratively to ensure communications efforts across CCALA programs have unified messaging and branding while reflective of the needs of each group or intended audience.
• Design, develop, and distribute promotional and collateral material, including print and electronic media.
• Assist with development of internal messaging documents for participants and partners.
• Build and manage the agency’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and additional channels that may be relevant.
• Create shareable content appropriate for specific programs to spread both agency and programmatic branding and content.
• Help bring new ideas for design and content creation to the team using expertise and eye for great design.
• Respond to external requests for information. Prepares written materials for staff, committees, workgroups and other partners and audiences.
• Develop and maintain outreach materials for trainings, programmatic updates, and other events.
• Develop and disseminate, via e-mail marketing (i.e. Constant Contact), on-going resources such as monthly newsletters, family calendars, etc.
• Update and enhance QSLA, CCALA and Registry websites, as requested
• Utilize analytic data from on-line sources (i.e. website or social media) to improve communications strategies and materials.
• Collect communications data to share as needed with internal and external partners and stakeholders and to share in reports to funders.
• Participate on the QSLA Communications Committee and other committees, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Categories of Responsibilities
• Communications Planning and Support –In collaboration with the CCALA Program Director, Policy Specialist, QRIS Program Manager and Communications Committee, , and Registry Director, implement strategic communications plans to achieve and advance CCALA’s programmatic and initiative focused goals.
• Content Development and Distribution: Ensure unified messaging and branding of program materials, both internal and external. Design and develop new collateral for dissemination through various platforms. Maintain on-going communication efforts with providers, parents, partners, stakeholders, funders and the public through multiple methods.
• Information Management – Help capture, process, and organize data related to CCALA’s Communications scope of work.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree is desirable, or equivalent experience; preferably with a degree in the fields of communications, marketing or related academic field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience including communications planning, content creation, graphic design, marketing, or other related experience.
• Skilled in creating, editing, and promoting written and visual content. Experience developing social media posts, informational articles/content, programmatic documents, video, etc. is preferred.
• Ability to calibrate messaging for a wide-range of audiences, including parents and child care providers from ethnically diverse backgrounds, as well as funders, key partners, stakeholders, and elected officials.
• Ability to develop a well-rounded agency presence in social media, with a command of each network and their best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write content for various communication and marketing materials and varied audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet required deadlines with strong attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse client populations.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills. Able to work independently.
• Strong computer skills, including experience with WordPress, Windows, Microsoft Office suite, graphic design software, social media platforms, and website design.
• Flexible, innovative and able to adapt to the changing needs of the program.
• Spanish/English bilingual preferred.
• Familiarity with the Los Angeles child care delivery system, stakeholders, community agencies and child care provider population is desirable.
• Ability to travel occasionally within LA County with reliable transportation. Valid CA driver’s license and insurance coverage, which meets CA standards if a personal vehicle is used to for travel to and from occasional agency meetings and events.
