Finanace Associate / Accounts Payable – CAI – New York, NY

CAI, a global nonprofit organization that tackles the toughest issues facing underserved populations today, is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, hands-on finance professional for the full-time, position of Finance Associate / Accounts Payable. The Finance Associate/Accounts Payable is responsible for managing CAI’s accounts payable process and functions in a professional, accurate and knowledgeable manner. This position will direct and oversee the daily management of the accounts payable processes associated with the payment of invoices ensuring the accuracy of the entire process as it relates to vendor payment, processing of purchase orders, receiving, invoices and payment of invoices and communication with buyers. Will ensure CAI’s fiscal policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable. This is a NYC-based position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate all activities to Controller & Senior Vice-President/Director of Finance
Successfully manage all vendor responsibilities
Process all vendor, employee and consultant payments on time, or as instructed
Ensure all credits due to the Company are properly documented
Manage and complete all projects as assigned
Maintain immaculate records and files
Develop and utilize spreadsheets for accurate expense tracking, reporting and vouchering
Other duties as necessary/assigned.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS & SKILLS:

Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred
Minimum 4 years of high volume A/P experience required, preferably in non-profit setting.
Must be able to establish and maintain AP operating procedures and processes and effectively communicate procedures to staff.
Sound accounting training and strong understanding of accounts payable.
Must have knowledge of vendor maintenance, including setting up new vendor information, obtaining W-9 and communicating to vendors.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must possess advanced Excel knowledge & use, and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
Able to work with a minimum of supervision, and in finance team environment.
Ability to work well under pressure and to work within short deadlines.
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details.
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and business partners.
Knowledge of fund accounting and spread sheets (Excel), financial tracking and reporting.
Knowledge of government grants management, including budget modifications and close-outs
Knowledge of various computerized software accounting systems; knowledge and use of “Intacct” accounting system highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
