Your Career Opportunity
The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and reporting activities. She or he will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $15 million and support the finance team members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Controller will ensure that MEDA has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will work closely with the different programs and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations.

Specifically, you will
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period with appropriate GAAP standards; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
Analyze, allocate costs, and post journal entries to appropriate accounts, departments, programs, projects, and affiliated entities for payroll, bank transfers, credit cards, and other transactions not recorded by AP or AR Systems
Will support semi-monthly payroll activities and review agency bank accounts, statements and reconciles all agency accounts on a monthly basis. Research any discrepancies.
Support the CFO’s initiatives with short- and long-term financial/accounting goals
Special projects in accounting as may arise from time to time, including regular audit activity.

Your Keys to Success
BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or related field required, CPA and/or MBA preferred.
Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
Nonprofit Accounting and Affordable Housing highly desirable.
MIP-Abila and ADP software experience highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills; be comfortable interacting with all staff levels
Ability to work with little management or guidance on a daily basis. Self-motivating and self-guided.
Bilingual – English/Spanish is preferred.
