Organizational Description

Beneficial State Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports, evaluates and protects the social and environmental mission of Beneficial State Bank, a Community Development Financial Institution in California, Oregon and Washington. Collectively, Beneficial State Bank and Foundation work to build human and environmental prosperity by providing fair and honest loans and financial services to individuals, businesses and nonprofits that are striving to be a force for good.

The Foundation helps to define, drive, measure and evaluate the social and environmental impact of the bank, helps to build the movement toward a financial system that nourishes rather than extracts from communities, and plays a key role in connecting nonprofits, social-impact businesses and the bank in order to fund and support community-focused projects and programs.

Position Overview

Beneficial State Foundation is seeking to hire a Community Engagement Manager to play the connector role in the Seattle and Western Washington area. The candidate should possess the ability to work independently and with many projects and departments. The position requires the use of initiative, creativity, and diplomacy in efforts to meet the Foundation’s mission, including the expansion of the Bank’s name recognition in the Pacific Northwest.

The individual should be able to maintain confidentiality and work efficiently with stakeholders from very diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will also be dynamic, a quick learner, an excellent writer, enthusiastic, detail oriented, and will possess a high level of discretionary tact. The job may include working with and supervising volunteers, interns, collaborators and consultants to help achieve the goals of the foundation. The position requires a moderate amount of traveling and participation in evening and weekend events. The person in this position is also expected to help coordinate special projects designated by the Foundation or Seattle Branch as described in the duties section below. Because of the start-up nature of this position in Washington State, team members of the Foundation are expected to function in different capacities as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In tight coordination with Beneficial State Foundation and Seattle Branch Bank staff:

Strategically outreach to and build connections with nonprofits, social impact businesses and the bank in Seattle and Western Washington – Expand the local awareness, profile and positive perception of the Bank and branch by creating and cultivating strategic contacts and relationships with businesses, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, foundations, centers of influence, and associations.

Research, recommend, and implement strategic alliances with such organizations.

Act as a loan and deposit relationship developer for BSB – Create and cultivate strategic contacts and relationships with businesses within target sectors identified by the Seattle Branch, such as: non-profits; multifamily real estate brokers, investors, and property managers; women and minority owned businesses and others as deemed appropriate.

Participate individually and in conjunction with RMs and DMs in networking events, fundraisers, educational events and appointments as necessary within targeted sectors.

Update and maintain organizational database systems, including Salesforce and other tracking systems within the Foundation.

* Maintain contact databases for marketing, brand awareness and event invitation efficiency.

Develop and manage community events, forums, and strategic meetings in support of our mission and target sectors

Find and secure venues.

Manage to a budget.

Coordinate with executive schedulers to manage visit schedules and details.

Coordinate marketing avenues, materials, invitations and RSVP tracking.

Attend events.

Coordinate and Communicate with aligned associations and groups such as the Main Street Alliance, GroYourBiz, Women’s Business Convenings, BSB Ambassadors, Alternative financers, B-Corps and others.

Develop a plan to help organize a signature event for the Bank and Foundation in Seattle

## Attend regular community events to represent the Bank and Foundation.

Support Marketing efforts of Foundation and Bank.

Coordinate with Marketing team in implementation of marketing plans/activities.

Recommend local and regional avenues for marketing.

Provide assistance with social media marketing and updates.

Create and distribute Ambassador communications.

Manage sponsorship and membership tracking and reporting details for the Washington State footprint.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the team that helps organize and coordinate the internship program at the Foundation.

Research, monitor, and track pertinent program data and information, utilizing spreadsheets, to produce reports for different stake holders.

Collaborate and assist with projects led by other Foundation staff.

Anticipate and assist in resolving situations without continuous supervision.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or related field and experience required. With 3-5 years minimum experience preferred.

Experience in social-impact business and/or nonprofit sector.

Some level of Banking or Finance experience required.

Skills

Excellent written communication skills.

Proven relationship building and networking skills.

Excellent organizational skills

Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. Ability to use programs to maintain websites, graphic, and database applications a plus.

Familiarity with Salesforce or other database software desirable.
