Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership (NMPP) a maternal and child health agency located in Central Harlem seeks a Bookkeeper for its Early Learn/Head Start Program.The Bookkeeper is responsible for safeguarding federal funds to include budget preparation and execution, financial and record keeping. Implement financial policies and procedures and maintain adequate financial files of informatiom pertainiing to the program.
Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts, defining bookkeeping policies
Assist in the resolution of audit issues and the implementation of auditor’s recommendationsa and report all findings to the Director.
Monitor the program’s budgets including ACS and UPK
Develop and maintain accurate chart of accounts
Maintain staff records/process time sheets
Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries
Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance reconciling entries
Prepare vouchers to ensure that all bills and invoives are paid on time
Develop, monitor, and report on financial contrl programs and procedures, including compensation and benefits to staff
Comply with federal, state, and local requirements
Track expenditure by account and reconcile account logs with fiscal reports
Stay current on Head Start fiscal mandatyes
Prepare for Federal Monitoring Review
Attend workshops and conferences required
Perform other duites as necessary
Must have a BS in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. At least two years of relevant accounting experience.
