Accountant – Wide Horizons For Children Inc – Waltham, MA

Experienced Accountant for Waltham-based non-profit child welfare organization working in multiple countries.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will:

Maintain client profiles
Update Accounts Receivable including billings and cash receipts
Monitor Aged Accounts Receivable for collectibility and make collection efforts quarterly
Coordinate external grants on behalf of clients
Respond to client inquiries including requests for general fee itemizations for tax purposes, etc.
Update Accounts Payable for invoices and cash disbursements
Record Fundraising receipts in coordination with Development department
Issue Travel Advances and record related expenses
Facilitate banking transactions including international wires, deposits, transfers and withdrawals
Perform General Ledger reconciliations at month end and year end
Adjust Subledger and General Ledger accounts as needed
Assist with annual audit
Track Paid Time Off for employees
Other accounting projects and tasks, as assigned

The successful candidate will possess:

A passion for improving the lives of children
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy
Certified Public Accountant a plus
3-5 years professional experience in accountancy
Knowledge of Sage 50 Software
Proficiency with MicroSoft Excel & Word
Ability to speak Spanish and/or Chinese desirable
Ability to prioritize, mult-task and complete work timely
Attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
Creative problem solving skills

40 hours per week
