Accountant – Life Chiropractic College West – Hayward, CA


Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the maintenance of the institution financial health. This includes the day-to-day business office operations and ensures timely and accurate recording and reporting of financial data. The Accountant will work closely with Director of Finance in the analysis of monthly results, preparation of cost reports, and assist the finance department in various accounting functions


Assist DOF in preparing and tracking Budget and Cost reports accurately and timely.
Assists with the preparation of annual audits
Prepare monthly reports on comparison of actual to budget costs
Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements
Prepare and enter journal entries
Identifies and reports compliance issues to Director of Finance
Assist with special projects as necessary
Provides direct support to the Directorof Finance in all accounting and finance related areas and to management staff as necessary.
Analyze revenues, and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
Prepare monthly account reconciliations
Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
Auditing and verifying documents.

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting and Finance.
Minimum of five years hands on experience in accounting. Educational Institution experience preferred.
Demonstrates a strong foundation of technical budget development and analysis, reimbursement methodologies and assumptions, superior spreadsheet capabilities.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within strict timelines/deadlines.
Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Intermediate to Advanced practical Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience working within the nonprofit environment is preferred.
Experience in fund accounting system preferably Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, is strong plus. Strong written, oral, computer, and problem solving skills are important.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and works well in a team.


Most of the work is performed in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions.
