Summer Communications Intern – Everytown For Gun Safety – New York, NY

Everytown for Gun Safety is hiring a paid communications intern for its summer 2015 part-time internship program. The term will begin in June and end in August.

About Everytown for Gun Safety

Everytown for Gun Safety is the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than 2.5 million supporters and more than 40,000 donors including moms, mayors, survivors, and everyday Americans who are fighting for public safety measures that respect the Second Amendment and save lives. At the core of Everytown are Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement of American mothers founded on the day after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Responsibilities

Track media coverage of legislation, events, and other gun violence prevention efforts and prepare press reports
Manage incoming media requests
Draft press releases, talking points, and notes to media
Assist communications team in its day-to-day operations and achieving its long-term strategy

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Humor, initiative, and openness to evolving responsibilities
Current undergraduate student or recent graduate
