Women’s Program Social Worker – Long Island City – Hour Children

Job description
The Women’s Program Social Worker provides support, crisis intervention, information, and advocacy, to mothers and single women who are transitioning back into the community from incarceration. Clients reside in one of Hour Children’s eight residences and require support with navigating various systems i.e. HRA, ACS, drug treatment programs, Parole, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provides individual and/or family case management services to all families residing in Hour Children housing including: intake, assessment, goal setting, long-term case management planning, progress monitoring, advocacy and referrals • Creates a comprehensive psycho-social assessment and subsequent service plan with each client admitted to the program
• Provides supportive counseling as necessary to cultivate worker-client relationships and make progress in case planning and/or discharge planning
• Attends internal staff meetings, trainings, and supervision as well as related external meetings and trainings with resource partners
• Performs additional department or agency related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor

Requirements
• LMSW • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Two-three years of direct practice experience with high-risk populations with complex trauma histories
• Must have the ability to provide effective services and produce accurate written documents in a timely fashion
• Must be able to deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer and technical skills, specifically Microsoft Office programs

Preferred, but not required
Bilingual in English and Spanish
SIFI Certification
Previous training in delivering trauma informed care/services
Experience working with criminal justice involved populations
Experience with navigating public benefits, supportive housing, and/or substance abuse treatment systems
