Volunteer Coordinator – Philadelphia – The Petey Greene Program

Organization
The Petey Greene Program supplements educational programming in correctional institutions by providing individualized tutoring to incarcerated people. We are a small but growing national organization with over twenty employees in seven states. We promote academic achievement in prison classrooms to support the future success of people in prison.

To accomplish these goals, the Petey Greene Program builds partnerships between universities and correctional institutions. The program collaborates with universities and student groups to recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers, typically undergraduate and graduate students. We then work with correctional facilities to enable these volunteers to serve as tutors in adult basic education, high school, high school equivalency, and college programs. This supplemental tutoring service is provided at no charge to correctional facilities.
