Vegan Support Group Leader – In Defense of Animals

DESCRIPTION
In Defense of Animals (IDA), an international nonprofit animal rights organization, seeks volunteer Vegan Support Group Leaders across the country to facilitate our new 12-step program for aspiring vegans. We will train you and provide the resources needed to host a support group in your area. You will be part of a national support team working to build a thriving vegan community. This 5-10 hour per week volunteer position is a great opportunity to use your skills to help people, animals, and the environment. Please send a cover letter and resume to employment@idausa.org.

The Vegan Support Group Leader is responsible for:
Facilitating regular vegan support groups
Promoting the 12-step program locally
Recruiting group members
Scheduling and organizing meetings
Collecting group member contact details
Communicating with group members
Assigning a mentor to each member
Referring group members to our support line
Reporting group progress and member dynamics to IDA

Vegan Support Group Leader qualifications include:
Self-motivated, independent
Cooperative team-player
Positive attitude, desire to learn
Psychology training a plus
12-step experience a plus
Knowledge of veganism, vegan cooking, nutrition, animal rights, environmental issues (or willingness to research)
