Research / Admin Internship – Roots of Development – Washington, DC

ROOTS OF DEVELOPMENT is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. Our mission is to help marginalized communities obtain the financial resources and organizational skills they need to manage their own development. We are currently seeking a Research and Admin intern for the spring semester of 2016. The Research and Admin intern will support Roots staff in a wide range of duties, including project development, proposal writing, donor management, and fundraising efforts.The position will require research about Haiti to understand different perspectives and conversations around the country and in relation to international development.

We are looking for someone highly motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and independent. Interns with Roots of Development have the potential to make a serious impact on Roots’ growth in the U.S. and Haiti.

This internship is unpaid, but interns often receive student credit through their university. Interns will gain experience in a fast-paced start-up atmosphere and learn what it takes to manage an international non-profit. We ask that all our interns have a certain degree of flexibility and a strong commitment to professionalism. We are looking for a part-time or full-time intern to start in early January, at a minimum of 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

– Assist with donor database management and data entry

– Program development and project proposal writing

– General administrative support

– Assist in preparation for large annual fundraiser

Qualifications

– Strong research and administrative skills

– Interest in international development

– Strong writing and editing skills

– Previous independent fundraising experience helpful

– Motivated to work independently

Desired

– Proposal and budget writing experience

– Experience using Salesforce
