Job description
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware provides a “home away from home” for families with seriously ill or injured children while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital. The Ronald McDonald House has 50 guest rooms.

Position Overview: Reports to the President & CEO. Responsible for the day to day operations of the Ronald McDonald House as well as the facility. Ensures a “home away from home” environment is maintained at all times. Accountable for ensuring all guest programs and services as well as facility related policy and procedures are implemented and effectively managed. Supervises the following positions: Volunteer Manager, Resident Manager, Environmental Services Staff and Maintenance Assistant.

The Operations Director is primarily responsible for:

Daily Operations:
Oversee the day to day operations of guest programs, services and related activities, assuring that established policies and procedures are followed.
Develop, implement, manage and evaluate the operational, safety and security policies and procedures in collaboration with operations staff and consistent with RMHC guidelines. Oversee the operation of the building access and security system. Direct guests and volunteers according to procedures in case of medical, facility or weather emergency.
Responsible for independent decision making for day to day operating issues involving staff, guests and volunteers. Seek guidance from President/CEO as needed.
Supervise Operations Team, assign work, provide training and direction and ensure compliance with established standards while promoting a supportive and team-oriented environment. Oversee scheduling of operations personnel assuring appropriate coverage during all hours of operation and on call.
Develop and make recommendations for annual operating budget, and manage House operations within budgeted amounts.
Provide onsite management from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the work week.

Property Management:
Oversee property inspections to ensure standards are maintained with regard to maintenance, repairs, environmental services, safety, security and general upkeep.
Perform regularly scheduled inspections of the building and grounds to ensure standards are maintained with regard to maintenance, repairs, environmental services, safety, security and general upkeep.
Implement and monitor maintenance and environmental services schedules.
Manage arrangements for repairs and maintenance. Monitor facility related contracted services, and organize logistics of repairs.
Maintain environmental services, household and maintenance related supplies and materials. Facilitate appropriate and timely distribution and storage.
Monitor need for replacement of furniture, fixtures, equipment and for general facility improvements. Keep President/CEO apprised of needs for capital budgeting.
Oversee in-kind donations for all types of supplies and services. Assure that in-kind receipt forms are completed and appropriately routed for processing.
Serve as the staff liaison on the Building and Grounds Standing Committee.
Collaborate with Building and Grounds Chair and President/CEO to develop and manage the Capital Budget.

Guest Services/Volunteer Support:
Coordinate closely with the Volunteer Manager to ensure that volunteers are actively and effectively involved in the delivery of guest programs and services, and that they are provided with a positive and supportive environment in which to volunteer.
Work with Volunteer Manager to ensure adequate coordination and support for the facility related service projects.
Actively support and participate in volunteer recognition activities and events.
Coordinate with the Volunteer Manager to ensure volunteer training activities and curriculum is current with regard to operational policies and procedures for guest programs, services and related activities.
Coordinate with the Volunteer manager to ensure appropriate volunteer staffing.
Demonstrate ability to use Opera, Easy Lobby and Access Program to provide support to Guest Services Coordinators when needed.
Resolve any staffing/personnel issues with volunteers.

Community Groups:
Organize and develop meaningful volunteer projects for outside groups and supervise groups when volunteering at the House.
Oversee and manage the House meal program.
Organize and conduct House tours, as well as participate in outside speaking engagements serving as an Ambassador of the House.
Other Responsibilities: Cover for operations personnel as needed to assure adequate coverage during all hours of operation. Provide on-call coverage as needed.Assist with House special events as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of management experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills and experience.
Demonstrated facility management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a flexible, team oriented environment.
Ability to be adaptable and flexible to support the 24 hour nature of this role.
