Manager of Donor Development / External Affairs – Junior League of Washington

The Manager of Donor Development and External Affairs functions as the JLW lead staff for fundraising efforts. As such, the staff member works with JLW volunteers to develop, coordinate, and maintain corporate and individual philanthropic support. The Manager of Donor Development and External Affairs also fosters relationships with key community, government, and business leaders and organizations throughout the metropolitan D.C. region, representing JLW at events and meetings to promote the JLW mission and increase the organization’s profile throughout our region. This staff member also serves as the human resources lead for JLW staff and is responsible for ensuring smooth operations of the League.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assume management of the League’s overall fund development plan including data tracking and analysis.
Work with individual and corporate donors, in conjunction with JLW volunteers, to cultivate and maintain relationships.
Serve as lead grant writer.
Build and maintain planned, corporate/employer matching, mobile, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and other giving programs tied to membership.
Implement a strategic plan for JLW’s increased community presence.
Manage JLW staff and ensure annual goals are met or exceeded each year.
Supervise staff with primary financial responsibilities.
Provide support to JLW Board of Directors.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of two years’ experience in non-profit fundraising with a proven record of success in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, including in developing and implementing strategies related to fundraising and external or community affairs.
Prior grant writing experience strongly preferred.
Outstanding written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
Motivated and flexible team player willing to work to develop a sense of community among league constituents, including members, internal leadership, and external community partners.
Availability for occasional evening and weekend work when necessary.
