About the Unit:

The Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program, Care2Prevent, in the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases works under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Clinical Director to provide patient care, case management, behavioral health services, and prevention and outreach programs for people living with HIV and those who are most vulnerable to HIV infection.

Unit Job Summary:

C2P’s Manager of Community Health is responsible for providing leadership and strategic perspective to C2P’s HIV prevention and community health programs. The Manager of Community Health provides direct oversight to a team of employees, including staff in the CDPH and CDC-funded HIV prevention program, Youth Drop-In Program, Peer Navigator program, and C2P’s partnership with the Comer Mobile Medical Unit. This includes supervising the delivery of high-quality HIV testing, linkage to care, engagement in care, youth development, and resource advocacy services and monitoring the achievement of programmatic scopes for all of the delineated HIV prevention and youth development programs.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Manager of Community Health supervises two full time Health Outreach Specialists, two full time linkage specialists, one Resource Advocacy Intern, a team of Peer Navigators, and a team of Drop-in program staff.

The Manager of Community Health partners with the Program Director to monitor program expenditures to ensure compliance with section approved and funder-approved budgets. The Manager of Community Health partners with the Program Director to manage private and public grants that support C2P’s outreach and community programs. This includes, but is not limited to, partnering with C2P leadership on the authorship of grant applications and reports, communicating with funders, and ensuring grant compliance.

The Manager of Community Health schedules staff trainings and professional development staffing, coordinates staff schedules, and payment for contractor services. The Manager of Community Health develops, evaluates, interprets and applies all policies and procedures relating to C2P’s outreach and community engagement programs for High-Impact HIV Testing, Ryan White Outreach, Washington Park Youth Drop-In Program, and the partnership with the Comer Mobile Medical Unit. The Manager of Community Health partners with Program Director and Primary Investigator/Faculty to manage any research or evaluation initiatives related to C2P’s prevention and community engagement programs.

Unit Education:

Master’s degree required.

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a comparable human service field preferred.

Unit Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience coordinating the provision of direct services to LGBTQ, HIV+, and street-based homeless young adult and adult populations required.

Experience providing or supervising services in an HIV prevention program including the provision of HIV testing and linkage to care services preferred.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Grant writing experience preferred.

Budget management experience preferred.
