Internal Field Organizers – San Francisco – IFPTE Local 21

Like every progressive organization, L21 is reeling in the wake of the recent national election. Though we are still in mourning, we know that internal membership organizing and leadership development is more important than ever. To that end, Local 21 is hiring Internal Field Organizers on a project basis to assist our staff with an 8-12 month internal membership drive with our public sector employees. Local 21 represents 10,000 highly trained professional and technical employees dedicated to governmental service in the San Francisco Bay Area.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
– Increase membership in represented bargaining units;
– Identify important worksite issues;
– Recruit and develop new member leaders;
– Maintain current database with accurate information;
– Support field staff with worksite meetings and leadership development;
– Some travel between our Oakland, Martinez and San Jose offices may be required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
– Demonstrated commitment to social justice;
– Strong social, written and verbal communication skills;
– Motivated self-starter who is also a solid team player;
– Strong computer skills a plus (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook);
– Car and CA driver’s license required;
– Willingness to work some evenings and weekends;
– Minimum one year experience in labor, political or community organizing a strong plus;
– Bilingual a plus.

SALARY & BENEFITS
– Salary ranges from 64k to 78k per year depending on experience, and benefits are very competitive.
