Hotline/Operating Line Coordinators (ACCESS) – San Francisco Suicide Prevention

We are hiring 4-7 individuals for a program beginning in July.

The ACCESS Coverage Line answers calls for the City and County Behavioral Health ACCESS Line during off hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays. Providing necessary referrals, mental health information, and support – the ACCESS team is an important part of our agency!

Coordinator Position (1 Person). Half Time.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall management of ACCESS coverage program and staff
Recruits, hires, trains and supervises 3.25 FTE new program staff (4-6 individuals)
Coordinates and conducts training for new ACCESS coverage staff
Coordinates and conducts ongoing support and scheduling for ACCESS coverage staff
Attends contract meetings and assists Client Services Director in preparing contract performance, site visit and statistical reports
Manages Client Information System Database for ACCESS coverage program
Serves as contact person in resolving external and internal issues related to calls and contract issues
Is available to serve as on-call staff person to resolve clinical emergencies (e.g. caller issues) and scheduling emergencies during ACCESS call hours (4PM to 8AM and Weekends) and by email.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of training in suicide prevention/crisis intervention or equivalent
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field or equivalent experience
Experience in suicide prevention/crisis intervention and/or hotline services a plus
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent telephone communication and problem solving skills
Detail-oriented and flexible
Computer literate and familiar with databases utilizing Filemaker
Able to work flexible hours (including evening, weekend and holiday hours as needed)
Able to work independently as well as part of a team
Able to supervise and evaluate program staff
Multi-task and solution-oriented; bi-lingual a plus

Supervision:

Reports directly to the Client Services Director
Supervises the ACCESS Coverage Line staff

ACCESS Line Staff (3-6 Person). Part Time, various hours

Responsibilities

Answers ACCESS Coverage line for SFSP
Attends ACCESS Coverage training and completes curriculum satisfactorily
Reports for coverage shifts on schedule
Trains other new staff online, as needed
Records all ACCESS calls completely in client database
Complies with all ACCESS coverage requirements as specified in contract documents
Produces report information at the end of shift for ACCESS funding source.
Attends meetings with ACCESS Coverage Coordinator, other agency staff and City and County staff as required and requested.

Qualifications

Basic skills and experience in call center operation or customer service
Excellent telephone communications skills and attention to detail
Able to work evening, overnight and/or weekend hours
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human services or related field
Bi-lingual a plus
Skills and experience in community service
Ability to support a broad variety of people, including communities of color, gay and lesbian communities, and people with mental illnesses, addictions or co-existing disorders or their families and/or concerned friends
