HIV Prevention Project Manager – Community Health Action of Staten Island – Staten Island, NY

Oversee the implementation of all HIV prevention programming at the Staten Island LGBT Community Center. Supervise the Program Assistant and the implementation of the MPowerment intervention. Work individually with a caseload of young men who have sex with men and transgender individuals to provide Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services (CRCS), the model that will be utilized in this project. CRCS includes intake, risk assessment, personalized prevention plan development, providing referrals to HIV & STI testing, and assisting with the implementation of the prevention plan. The HIV Prevention Project Manager will also facilitate a multi-session group for clients involved individually in CRCS to increase HIV/STI education and social support.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field with a licensure preferred but not required. Candidate should have social work, case management or related experience working with youth, MSM, transgender individuals clients with a history of substance use and/or mental health issues, persons living with/ affected by HIV/AIDS and/or diverse groups of youth/young adults. Candidate must demonstrate ability and/or commitment to working effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds; ethnic, cultural and sexual minorities with a sex positive and harm reduction approach. Candidate MUST have attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Candidate must have excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills as well as good communication and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office. Applicants should be passionate, open-minded, patient, creative and have a commitment to and enthusiasm for educating young people about sexual health and creating positive change. Bi-lingual [Spanish/English] preferred but not required. Work schedule includes evenings, occasional weekends and other flexible scheduling
